Hi, my Tolbunt Polish Frizzle pullet has what I believe is a ruptured air sac. I've been all over this site and Google looking for answers.
At this point, I've decided to poke and "deflate" the air (don't know the better term).
My questions are:
How often do I do this?
If the air comes right back, how often to deflate?
What do I use to sterilize the bird and tool? Rubbing alcohol for her skin, and fire for the needle? Or is iodine better? I have the red and the decolorized kinds.
I only have sewing needles, is that big enough?
Where do I poke on the sac? High, low, in the middle?
Do I squeeze after poking?
How deflated should I get it before stopping?
Thank you so much to anyone that can help! I've never done anything like this before.
Also, what do I put on it afterwards?
Vetericyn? Triple antibiotic ointment without painkiller? Peroxide?
And should I give antibiotics? I don't know what kind, if so.
