SADIE: Wing is off!!!! Pics

Sadie is eating mostly her chick starter now. She still does enjoy a snack. It has been 21 days since her attack and she is stronger than ever. The wing didn't come off today but it can't be much longer. Her chickie spirit is good and I think she is ready to go back outside but that will have to wait. As cold as it has been at night here I know she is glad to be inside. After Sadies recovery she will spend any cold nights inside so she will have it made. Thanks for all the prayers for our Sadie.

I am not usually one to recommend to people to do home surgery, but can you not just take a pair of poultry shears or clean garden nippers to cut through the dried out dead tissue? If it is dry/dead attached by a thread or ligament- SNIP, and be done with it. Throw it away or give it a nice burial as it has been a big part of your life recently. Then we can all cheer and verbally pat you on the back, and Sadie can get back to being a chicken again.

That thought is definately with me and I have been making plans for that to happen if it doesn't happen on its on soon . The wing is dead and not bothering her at all. I was just hoping it would happen naturally. I have made inquiries and the thought is the wing will come off on its on. The bad part of the deal is if we need vet care I will not be able to afford it this time. My old mans plant burned to the ground on sunday so no job there. I truly beleive she will be o k and it will come off natrually. After talking to dhlunicorn she has me convinced to wait. I am so estactic that I even have her much less the great condition she is in. We are making all kinds of special provisions for her living quarters. I am disabled and have 24/7 to work with her if needed. I think my biggest problem with her is how spoiled she will be. lol Like everyone says- the waiting is the worst.

Sadie had some excitement last night and I missed it all. I breed rats and there aquariums are in my laundry room at the back of the house. Sadie is in a brooder without a top in a room next to the laundry room and there are two other brooders with babies in the room. Well a group of male rats chewed through there top and got out. My old man said he heard the babies screaming so he went to investigate and after awhile he saw a rat run by. Miss Sadie came out of her brooder and went after the rats. My oldman said after awhile he just sat back and laughed at Sadie chaseing these rats. He finally caught all but one and the dog got that one. I slept through the whole thing. The old man could of woke up or got some video or something. So Miss Sadie hates rats. lol

i'm affraid if u leave the dead tissue on to long it will either have developed a severe infection or gang green will set in. her wing will NOT totally come off on it's own anytime soon if at all because of the bones in the wings u will have to break the bones in the right places and amputate.

i know that is aweful but it's what will have to be done trust me.

it has been long enough u should no problem be able to start removeing it in steps just not all at once and it will heal on it's own bit by bit as it is removed cuz there is less work for it to go through on it's own. if u want me to walk u through it and help u, pm me and i will send u my cell phone # for u to call so i can talk u through it.

Silkie I sent you a PM but didn't here from you. I hope everything is alright. I have been back in contact with the vet office and have new info and I was just wondering what you think bout it. Maybe some helpful tips?

Have a happy Thanksgiving!
