SADIE: Wing is off!!!! Pics

Hey Chill I don't know if you seen it or not but a member with the name Ruth amputated a leg on an older hen that was having problems. You might want to search for that thread. Hope this finds ya all well and was glad to read that your holidays were looking brighter after that fire at your hubbies plant.

Keeping you and yours in my prayers.

Thank you for the info, I will try and find it but I have to admit I'm not the best searcher. You have been very kind keeping up with Sadie and you support and gentle word have been appereciated greatly. I do have some encouraging words and instructions from the vets office but the more info I have the better for my Sadie.

You have a wonderful day and you are in our prayers.

After speaking with the vets office, listening to advice from this forum, doing a lot of research we finally came to the conclusion that it was time of amputate Sadies wing. The wing itself was dead but it was having trouble cutting through the bone at the bind spot.

At first we took a straight pin and checked her wing in all areas to make sure there wasn't any feeling left. After that was over we cut the wing off. Simple as that. Its all over guys. She is sporting bandages now but once they are off I will get her ready for her new photo shoot.

I will tell you that was they longest 29 days of my life and I don't ever want to go there anything like that again. Like I said before , the waiting was the worst part of the whole deal.

Miss Sadie has here appetite back to normal after losing it for a couple of hours after the surgery. She is a special girl and it was a miracle she lived. Miss Sadie will lead a pampered life from now on and I think she deserves ever minute she gets. Pics just as soon as our girl is ready for her photo shoot!!!!!!

Thanks again everyone for your kind words and well wishes. I couldn't have gotton through all this without them. You guys at BYC rock.

I'm SO glad to hear Miss Sadie's now free of that damaged and useless wing, and can get on with the business of being spoiled and pampered chickie (and shouldn't they all be ?)
