I miss my chickens... :(

When I'm on the cusp of waking up, I've been "hearing" my rooster crow. Nah. Just the water heater or something making some noise in an unfamiliar house.

I have been sitting out on the porch here, reading. It's unseasonably warm -- upper 70s and low 80s. I know I won't get the chance to do that again at home for about 6 months. :hmm

Many times I’ve wished I could put moments like that in a can. The warmth, the smell of flowers or fresh cut grass would be so comforting toward the end of January! :gig

Enjoy it while you can. We had 93 degrees yesterday, hottest November day ever recorded here. Now it's 48 degrees for the high today.

We're driving home tomorrow. It'll be about 13-14 hours. With two drivers, it's totally doable. But sooo not looking forward to it.
🤪

I am looking forward to being home, though. :) So is Freya.

She has been very good. She was calm and quiet in the car; an excellent plus when making a long road trip. One of our Dobes was a "nervous dog" in the car. Fine otherwise, but she wasn't a good traveler.

Safe travels.

I was singing and humming today as I was shopping. So glad to home.

I didn't realize until this morning how much this trip tired me. 800 miles driving each way is hard, but the visit was wearing. I was very glad that we had some yardwork to do, just to get out of the house. It is difficult for me to be around FIL and his wife. The stress between them stresses me out.

The high point of the trip was (finally!) getting to meet DH's friend Diane. I'm going to get the painting she gave me framed. It is a treasure and deserves something that reflects its sentimental worth.
