I baked 3 sweet potatoes. I ate the smallest, because it was done first. It wasn't as sweet as I was hoping it would be. But given the sketchy curing conditions I had, I'm pleased.

Not an easy combination to achieve. Or maintain for two weeks.

I'm thinking about making sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving. Or un-pie. That's pie filling without the crust.

From Wikipedia:

"Jabberjaw is an American animated television series created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears and produced by Hanna-Barbera which aired 16 original episodes on ABC from September 11 to December 18, 1976. Reruns continued on ABC until September 3, 1978

Jabberjaw, a 15-foot amphibious great white shark, is the drummer for The Neptunes, a rock group made up of four teenagers—Biff, Shelly, Bubbles and Clamhead—who live in an underwater civilization. Jabberjaw and The Neptunes travel to various underwater cities where they encounter and deal with assorted megalomaniacs and supervillains who want to conquer the undersea world."

I vaguely remember this show. Not because I was too young, but because I didn't watch much TV at the time. Also, that station did not come in well. Yes, we got just TWO stations, and a third one was iffy, depending on the weather.
 :th

I find flavor varies a lot with sweet potatoes. Next time you bake a few try a pat of butter and sprinkle them with a bit of cinnamon sugar or pie spice. Makes a great side for a meal that almost taste like dessert!

This is the second time I've cooked any from this harvest, and these were a bit sweeter than the first batch. I put butter on them this time, but not sugar, so I could tell how sweet they were. A bit of brown sugar and some cinnamon will make these a dessert! :drool

After reading how damaging sodium is to the body, I'm looking for more sources of potassium for my diet.

Yes, your body requires sodium, but definitely NOT in the doses we have in our food today. From what I've read recently, potassium helps buffer the extreme amounts of sodium we almost can't avoid in the American diet.

I eat a banana almost every day, but obviously can't grow them here in Michigan. That's why I was so thrilled to grow sweet potatoes!

For some reason my body wastes potassium. So I have to take a prescription potassium tablet daily. My symptoms started with very painful leg cramps at night. They were awful.
Dr did labs to diagnose. He said potassium, low or high can affect heart function and cause heart attacks.
I try to eat potassium rich foods but also take the men's each day. No more cramping!
