Salmonella-am I being paranoid??

Testing for the presence of salmonella and vaccinating for the prevention of salmonella are far different things. I'm trying to find out if there is a vaccine for ducks for the prevention of salmonella as was stated in an earlier post.

Yes you can vaccinate...I said that in an earlier post too...I think we are getting mixed up. Sorry!

Salmonella vaccination in backyard flocks is possible, however we think, provided you have good kitchen hygiene there should not be any major need to vaccinate. The vaccination consists of giving your birds two injections four weeks apart followed by an annual booster.

I think if you get ducks from Metzer farms too then they vaccinate their birds. I might be wrong on this but I am pretty sure that they do...I think I read it some where.

Well, my duck lives in my bedroom so I would be dead already if that were the case! Proper hygiene for you and your ducks are important and with proper practice, everything is perfectly safe! Ducks make good pets for kids to stay entertained!!

Hahah, actually yes she does. She has a pen though so her doggy bed is waterproof and in her pen!
