San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

hey everybody, I am still selling my Cotton patch geese pair, and I am willing to entertain offers.... I wanted $150 for them, but will consider a trade for a small breed sheep, like a babydoll or other small breed wether or ewe, or other items/animals or a combination of cash and ? Or possibly the best cash offer.

Also might be interested in equipment trade - stanchion, milk stand, clippers/shears, carriers, feeders, waterers, etc.

Dana,
The Ameraucana ( we named her mamacita) I got from you at the meet up laid her first egg! I am so happy!!! The only thing, she didn't lay in the nesting box but in the run lol!

Beautiful egg!! It sure didn't take her too long to get comfortable at your house...

Hey guys just wanted to remind everyone that we're having the ranch in Julian open this weekend for the pumpkin patch (and some apples too, though there aren't as many as last year, the pesky deer decided that it was the hottest lunch and dinner spot of the season). Most of the pumpkins are ginormous (is that a word?) and there are some pretty rad shapes and colors too! It's a REAL pumpkin patch, they're still attached to the vine, not just strategically placed about in the dirt. The ranch is off Sentenac Creek Road, you can google that. If I give the official address it gives the wrong directions, so just look up that street, there will also be a cheesy hand painted sign made out of plywood to direct. Cash only too!!

Saturday and Sunday 10:30-4

Hi- Had a great time at the meet-up, but didn't do a very good job of putting people together with their BYC names.

Still, I'm so glad I went, and thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

I did briefly join a conversation about having birds processed, and was wondering if I could ask for contact information for someone who does this efficiently. I won't have a lot of birds taking that route, but the need will come up from time to time. Is anyone comfortable sharing this information, either here or in a PM? Thanks!

PS hatched my first Brabanter tonight. After my last hatch (Silkies), I hate to say this, but it's a very homely chick. Ah well, maybe when it dries off, or grows up, or something...I love him anyway.

To anyone who picked up one of the canned goods from the raffle,or bought some of my peach or strawberry jam, please let me know what you think, whether or not you liked them, flavor, aroma etc. I am thinking of selling those items at a Farmers Market and would greatly appreciate any and all feed back!!

Ok, as promised, here are the photos of my completed Chicken Villa! I ended up getting rid of the litter boxes full of pine shavings. The chickens kept knocking them over anyway, so the pine is just all over the vinyl now. I'm probably going to ultimately change the purple shelter thing i'm using for the nest box. It's a bit flimsy and when a chicken sits on it, it smooshes down.

Enjoy!

That's a fantastic conversion! I think I am a little jealous that your chickens get a fountain on their house!

LOL, thanks. Now if I can get the fountain to work again, that would be something, but even then, when my daughter played with it,t he fountain was a bit loud, so I might just plant some lettuce or wheat grass in it for the chickens to nibble
