San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Thats an interesting thought on the rain. We have some FAT bun buns in the yard.....but at dusk and dawn, not during the day. I lost one of my old english game bantams last week to either a hawk or an owl. She was so pretty and made the funniest little coo noises!!! She has started roosting up on top of the corral wall in between where the roof began. It's like 12 feet high so I knew she would be safe from coyotes and just left her out at night. I don't know if it happened at night or during the day, they are free range on maybe a third acre during the day. She wasn't laying, so looking at the silver lining I'm not missing eggs and can now justify one more (wait 2, she was a bantam) new chicken in the spring

. I hadn't lost to a predator since June.

Well crap. Someone in the neighborhood complained to the city and we got a notice about having a roo.

I hadn't checked the mail in a few days and I'm supposed to be in compliance by tomorrow. I feel really sad. I always knew he was here at the mercy of the neighbors but I didn't expect to have to find him somewhere to go in less than 24 hrs. He's almost a year old and we're pretty attached to the fellow. I need more pictures of him.

I did not expect to be this sad about having to get rid of him. I'm sitting here crying about it.

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been missing - and sorry to anyone I havn't gotten back to, the holidays were brutal! Now it's time to get back to business.

Free Roosters: Black Copper (bantam) Marans and Swedish Flower Hen to good home (Yes, it's Clary, so Allison if u want him I can bring him up to you. I have too many roos and no plans to breed, so I have to cut back. Also have a young bantam mixed breed, he's who knows what and jungle/game mix.

Rabbits: As always, rabbits come with pedigrees unless noted otherwise and at major discount to my BYC friends.
I have a broken lilack buck, broken blue doe, a broken castor doe, a broken black & orange tricolor doe, and a solid blue buck for sale. Also a trio of show quality Jersey woolies with lots of wins. Couldn't go wrong with them.
