you know...there WAS something in the air...or the moon...or whatever....

Look what I found on Friday afternoon!!!! I had suspected this doe was pregnant also and had been watching her rear like a hawk to see if I could predict when. We sheared her last Sunday, and afterwards, she looked a lot smaller so I thought I had more time. But sure enough, Friday morning I noticed her bag was swollen and her gait had changed substantially. I missed the whole birth, and this was a first time momma so I was trying to keep a good eye on her!! It was only a singleton, so I think it must have happened pretty fast.

So now, we have THREE bucklings, 2 angora and this guy is a pygora (pygmy x angora), all fiber goats!! Now I just have to stress about what to do with them, we can't keep all 3!!

Congratulations fellow goat Mammas!!!!! Aren't they the cutest!!!

OMG look at those curls....adorable~!

Wow! Your babies are adorable! Pygoras sound so cute! How are they as milkers? I love fiber (thats why I have sheep), and hairy goats are just too cute!

So 19.5 days ago I received 12 Buff Orpington eggs in the mail all the way from TN. I wanted to see how to deal with USPS eggs as a large number of my Easter Egg run will be coming from the mid west and the south.

12 arrived, at 10 days I had 2 clears and 1 blood ring. The air cells were all over the place. I incubated them for 4 days upright and then in a turner. I am really unsure how many are viable - they are so hard to tell with huge saddled air cells but I this afternoon I had 5 pipping and in a still air hatching bator. It looks like I have some more chicks to unload.

Yaaay :)

My chick with the broken leg is doing so well.

With lots of clumsy wrappings and some temporary footwear, she's gotten to the point where she is walking and using her leg correctly. She's limping, but I honestly never thought she'd use that leg in any normal way. (Bad break with bone sticking through the skin; wasn't sure if she even had the ability to control her toes let alone position them correctly). I am really thrilled to see her movement today. I'm also 90% certain it is a she.

Her companion chick Mr. Pecker is definitely a little roo, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. They're both 1/2 BCM and 1/2 Mr. Peep, the teeny tiny rooster we had to rehome a while ago.

Brooder ready

these roos are gorgeous, they'll make some pretty babies for one of your future trips.
those roos are spectacular. 5 hatched thus far. i think that will be it though. cochins will hatch fri-sat and there are 8 looking good. i will have promised a few elsewhere also. I hope that they are out of the bator by sunday morning so I can show my niece and nephew the other california
