San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

It sounds like everyone had a great time as usual. So sad I had to miss it. I wanted so badly to be there but w/ some health problems and gas prices and I need to be in SD on a weekday to take care of some things in Chula Vista.

I hope to see some of you in Norco this coming weekend and if not, I will see everyone at the NEXT meet up.

Went with my mom and family to lunch after we went to the cemetary. Afterwards, my mom wanted me to grab a bag in the patio but her patio looks like it should be on an episode of Pack RATS. Anyways, while grabbing the bag she wanted I saw a box of chicken stuff. Must have been my dads. I really do not need anymore. I will bring it to Norco and if anyone is interested you can pm me. It is all pretty much full of dust and lord knows what else. If I have the time and patience I will clean it up a bit and then throw them in the dishwasher.

I have:

Rabbit Water Bottles- No metal holders though, I could look again
Round Metal Chick feeders
Long Metal Chicken feeders
Tons of water bottles all for chickens none are the small lip for quails
Quail feeders- They are from GQF and they are metal. They have pictures of the plastic kind but these are older and very well made. It has a metal cover and looks like a box. I will keep a few but there are lots.
Lastly, I have decided to let a few of my Lyon's/Marsh incubators go. Have 5 or 6 of them and will let all of the TX-6's go. If no takers, I may be persuaded to donate for a school so the kids can hatch chicks out.

It's so funny, so many ground nesting birds raise chicks in the area with all the coyotes compared to areas with fewer coyotes. I think the coyotes keep the raccoons, possums, feral cats and foxes in check.

Perhaps you can post photos of the babies if they have any.

Anke - as always, the worms are a huge, huge hit. You were 100% correct about the babies being able to handle the big worms. I about wet my pants laughing watching two chicks play a solid game of tug o' war with one!

The five new additions are doing well. Friendly, cute, snuggly little fuzzy butts... I'm kind of pleased that they're in the house with us. My 3 year old loves watching them, and even got brave enough to touch one, oh-so-gently.

I am going to the norco meet up aswell. looking forward to it. AND GUESS WHAT SCNA serama councle of north america is putting on a Serama show in escondido, at my friends house near the wild animal Park. This should be GREAT. i hope i get my new birds by then, or recover my others.

Here's a photo of the ducklings I ran off to see after I went to the meetup and the ones that gander tried to kill. There's nine today, but there were ten on Saturday:

Also, Oreo is missing, totally! I've never seen her completely gone! I saw her "posse" and everyone else except her and Daisy. I'm hoping she's just being broody and is trying to brood some eggs. She tried that once before, but it only lasted a week and she gave up.

She's my favorite dumped domestic duck at Lake Murray now that Tom is gone.

I hope you guys don't mind more photos. My broody's chicks are now a week old, and they are starting to get some big kids feathers.

Empireranch, did you decide to give your broody a few fertile eggs? I can supply you with some! Mutts for sure, but they do hatch out some cute babies!

My fiance and I had fun at the meetup. I didn't get a chance to meet everyone, and I certainly don't quite know who is who yet. All I can say is that our girls love the mealworms! and I wish I could have some little bantys
