San Diego County, CA R U There?

Hi there from the San Diego suburb of Clairemont. We've had our five hens for almost a year and a half and are loving it. We just had one hen go broody and she was trying to hatch a couple plastic easter eggs. We found a nice guy in Lakeside who gave us 3 fertile eggs to replace the plastic ones and we are looking forward to having chicks on the 4th of July! We would really love to have a Silver-Laced Wyandotte . Anyone in the San Diego area have any SLW eggs or chicks they are willing to sell?

Yes I did. I just finished emailing you back before I came on here. For everyone else here, I had responded to a craigs list ad Tommy had. I asked him about Silver-Laced Wyandott or Barred Plymouth Rock chicks to place with a broody hen. I have 3 Gold Sex-Link/ RIR mix eggs under her now that are due to hatch about July 4th and would like to add a couple SLW or BPR chicks to them when they hatch. Anyone in San Diego know where I can get those chicks?

Good morning,

I need to share something with everyone here in San Diego. While most of the chicken lovers or breeders here in San Dieog are really nice and outgoing...it seems to me quail breeders here aren't...at least, not the ones I have talked to that ruined my impressions towards them.

I have spoken to three local breeders yesturday on the phone and in person and I am sad to say that none showed professionalism and aren't in it for the fun or pleasure.

All are towards business and sales.

One guy trys to rip people off by selling quails like they are made of gold. $75 for a Bobwhite Trio.

One guy trys to convince me that Bobwhites are the meanest and I should buy his Gambel and Valleys because they are "nicer"...and theye are great for beginners. (SURE, I would believe you if I was 5 years old!)

Last guy said that Bobwhites are VERY rare and I have to wait another month to buy it from him because he is the only "good" seller in San Diego.

LAME LAME LAME!

We are new to the forum............but know exactly where Escondido is. We are just north of you, in what used to be a very rural part of San Diego. It is now being overrun with casinos. I am pleasantly surprised by all the locals.

This should be fun....
