@dotknott I have a question about how often saxonies will lay. I know khakis lay every day, do saxonies do the same? I was under the assumption that saxony only laid very other day

Mine lay almost daily March-Oct. outside of that they either stop altogether or lay every other day or less.

She'll likely lay every other day for a few days, maybe up to a week before laying daily. I just had a new layer start recently and she did something like this:

O being days she laid an egg..

Well I now know whos layin!!! I was right, it is Gertrude

But its also Heidi!!!! My favorite girl is laying!!

Ive gotten two eggs for the past three days in a row, so they are really going!! The eggs are just slightly bigger than my KCs, and they have a bit more green bloom. I had two spankin fresh saxony eggs for breakfast this morning!

Hi is anyone able to tell me whether Saxony ducks are good mothers because I might be getting some but I want to know based on your experiences wether they are good mums

I haven't had too much trouble with them raising their ducklings, but will most ducks, the males should be watched closely if not separated all together.
