Does your strain have much Dominique in them. Doesn't Doms usually have a pea comb instead of single? But from the pic your rooster sorta looks like a cuckoo pattern. I've never seen any show barred rocks, is it a show bird?
This has me fumbuzzled.

No Dominiques that I know of. Dominiques are Rose Comb.
Not a show bird, but likely came from some show lines in the past. Neither one are perfect, but suit my needs as backyard chickens

poor guy, we had a similar situation, small thin gap between the chainlink fence and the pen, stupid hen went in but couldn't get out, had to bend the chain link, in the meantime, the others decided to peck her, nothing quite so vicious though - and with some tlc was good as new - good luck!!
