You people really know how to sniff out a long-shot criticism, don't you? Consider that most of the actions mentioned even today would normally involve males - sure, you can find female hunters, but it's not exactly the norm. Also consider that it examined the same actions in 2011.

Once again, it appears that someone must point out that this is in reference to the paranoia in public schools nowadays, NOT in reference to race or culture. Stop being so sensitive - if you people would drop your obsession with "OMG minorities were mistreated," you'd be able to see the point that's being made. It's not saying "the 50s were all-around superior," it's saying, "people in 2011 act like paranoid idiots."

considering the fifties was during the era of McCarthyism, still being affected by eugenics (including the belief that less desirable people "breeding" would ruin society) and KKK ranting about how minorities are destroying america, the fifties was just as paranoid as today, just about different things. and i some cases, the same thing

You're really bringing up the ten commandments, and that we should follow them? OK, here they are, with their punishments for breaking them:

1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Punishment: Genocide. Entire cities with men, women, children and animals must be killed. (Deuteronomy 2:33-34, Numbers 21:34-35, 1 Samuel 15:2-3, Joshua 6:21. Joshua 10:40) In some cases you can keep the girls alive for raping. (Numbers 31:15-18)

2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
Punishment: Genocide. Entire cities with men, women, children and animals must be killed. (See above.)

3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
Punishment: Capital punishment (Leviticus 24:16, Deuteronomy 18:20, Mark 3:28-29)

4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Punishment: Capital punishment (Exodus 31:14, Exodus 31:15, Exodus 35:2 Numbers 15:32)

5) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Punishment: Capital punishment (Leviticus 20:10)

6) Thou shalt not murder. (rather ironic...)
Punishment: Capital punishment in some cases (For killing Cain, yes, for killing Abel, no: Genesis 4:15)...but if you murder people occupying land that your god says is yours, you are actually justified.

7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Punishment: Capital punishment (Leviticus 20:10)

8) Thou shalt not steal.
Punishment: Excessive fines or slavery: (Exodus 22:1-3). Only in rare cases such as stealing slaves, capital punishment (Exodus 21:16). Thieves caught in the night are to be executed (Exodus 22:1-3)

9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Punishment: Despisement and scorn (Proverbs 12:8)

10) Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife.
Punishment: Despisement and scorn (Romans 7:7-8)

Happily, western society has advanced beyond the Bronze Age, when these laws were written.

The act of murder and the act of killing is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo different.

The act isn't the difference -- it's the intention. Both murder and killing a person result in a person being dead. And to the person who died, I don't really think the intention matters -- he's still dead either way.
