Menards has it in 5# for a lower $/# cost last time I needed some.

Thanks, maybe I'll reconsider fence staples. I don't have very good luck with them as a rule, even with pliers. Always seems to be a bounce effect.

Also, it's way easier to just 'tack' the HWC up at first with a couple staples at the ends and middle of the section you're installing. Then you have both hands free to hold nails, screws, hammer, drill, etc. No sense in fighting the HWC the entire time when its not necessary.

I've found those galvanized staples go in easier if you hammer the wedge shape out of them to where they're more straight.

Also, do be aware that if you're screwing/stapling treated lumber any fastener other than galvanized, stainless or polymer coated will corrode quickly.

I've hammered in a ton of poultry staples. It's a lot easier, and you won't hammer your fingers, if you follow the following advise. Don't hold the staple like you would a regular nail. Hold it between your index and middle fingers, with your palm FACING UP. That way, it's easier to hit the staple, and not your angled finger and thumb combo.

Are those safe for screwing into various lumber do you think? I'll have everything from telephone poles to 1x6.

Would work but won't grab as well in wood, threads are too fine-easy to strip out when driving.

This is what I used with a cheap nailer from Harbor Freight that I think cost around $20.

Goes like this. BAM....BAM....BAM....BAM....BAM....BAM.... You get the idea. It is super fast, easy, and kinda fun.

If you have to remove one I think I used some diagonal cutters to cut the top and then needle nose pliers to pull out each leg. I can't remember exactly because it was about 8 years ago.

I have zero regrets using them. And all this talk about them makes me want to go out and build another coop! Ok no not really.
