Tim, can you post some pictures of this wounded wee one so we can see what's going on with it? I'm sure if we all put our heads together on it, we'll find the cause. And that's the first step to getting that little dude/dudette on the road to recovery! When you say "new" chicks, just how new are we talking here? Fluff stage or just starting to show some first feathers?
Does it look like my Sonic did when she first hatched?
The humidity had dropped in the middle of the night on her. It's amazing that she even managed to hatch all on her own and didn't get shrink wrapped into her shell. Anyhow, the result of that was a nearly naked chick that never did develop proper "fluff". She was rather bristly like a Hedge Hog (hence her name
] It wasn't until she started getting her feathers that I felt she might make it. And even those were far from the norm of the other hatchlings. Today, she's one of the most beautiful of all of my babies!
But I digress......
If you can, post some pictures and let us see what we can come up with for him/her. Being all alone can't be good for his/her health, being the flocking creature that they are! That all by itself can be so stressful as to cause illness.
I'll keep my fingers
for him/her and wait for some pictures!
Hey Cetawin! That little tiny gal doing the sax solo....that didn't happen to be our very own little Cheyenne did it?
I've heard her in the background over the phone, and even just noodling around with it, she's very good!
I so wish Annie had picked up something other than the violin. When we moved from Olympia to Cheney, we found out too late that they don't have orchestra at either middle or senior high school level. I knew I should have put my foot down and made her take Sax, or Flute, or even DRUMS for crying out loud!
You can email me the file sweetie! I'd love to hear even just a snippet of their show! And yes! It's time to invest in a good digital camcorder!
Kathy, are these the same birds that just mysteriously appeared in your garage one day? Was it you that had a buyer return birds unannounced and uninvited? Well, if it is, and if these are, then HA HA on the person who returned them. Both birds are good looking. I'd say that yes, you definitely have a male/female pair there! But like you've said before. Del's are just full of little surprises and secrets they keep to themselves. Crow or Lay....you may never know for sure up until that point!
But being as they are both the same age, I think it's a pretty foregone conclusion that you have a boy and a girl. She has a very nice tail by the way. Have you shown them to Walt yet?
OK kids. Stick a fork in me and turn me over, I think I'm done for the day. Time to crawl back into that whole I emerged from this morning and dream sweet dreams of chicken coops and runs. For tomorrow, I believe I'll be starting in on the construction of both for the Boys!
So, goodnight y'all. Sweet dreams and I'll catch up to y'all in the morning!
