OK, we are posted.

O boy, does going back to bed sound good- I wish I could! Or another POT of coffee - anything!

Kathy, that would scare the living daylights out of me, too! I love owls, but not near my babies!

Ah, Cheyenne,

Youth in search of itself.

Tim, I am hoping we don't get anything but a little rain this far west - but I know they are evacuating parts of the coast as we type.

LadyHawk, having a teenager of my own, I can certainly empathize. We went through that whole skipping school crap as well.

We solved [?] Annie's problem by sitting her down and explaining to her that if she really wanted to get away from us and all controlling adults, the way to do it was to stay in school, get the very best education she could, go on to college and then get a fantastic job after college. The kind that made it so that she never had to come home again, and that she'd always be her "own" woman! I think we got ridiculously lucky cuz it worked! That kid is an attendance freak now!

But you certainly do have my sympathies.

It's never easy to discover that one's child has done something like this. I know my mind went down every dark path it could think of. I feared it was the beginning of the end for Annie and that she'd start "hanging with the wrong crowd" do drugs, get pregnant, and end up in a gutter, dead, somewhere. And all because she skipped study hall!

Yeah, I have a very vivid imagination.

But I know you to be an awesome mother Cetawin! Sure. I'll say a little prayer for Cheyenne's back side, but only that the lesson reaches from her back side to her brain. Spare the rod, spoil the child, figuratively speaking.

And I know you'll be brutally fair about it. The punishment will fit the crime. Trust your mother's instinct sweetie. I know you'll handle it just fine! Cheyenne is so lucky to have you as her mother. I just hope she realizes this!

OK my chicken family: I've got a ton of stuff to get done today. But later, when I have a moment or ten to sit down and catch my breath, I've got some great stories of yesterday's flock adventures to tell you. I was just too pooped to post them last night and do justice to them!
wink.png
So, I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Take Tim's advice and take your chickens inside for those of you in the path of the hurricane. Those of us NOT in the zone of influence of the hurricane, take your birds inside anyway! It will be our show of solidarity for those of our number who may be in harms way!!

Amy...I hear ya. I mean skipping Study Hall? I could understand had she tried to skip Science or Pre-Algebra but study hall ??? Really? She did this last year once and was a bit smarter this time. Last year she hid in the teacher's bathroom which was real stupid at least this time she hid in a far off bathroom.

Kathy, thank you for posting that- I always forget I can post links! And thanks for the kind comment- I sort of just want to bury my head under the pillows!

Cetawin- she hid in the teacher's bathroom?

Amy- I will wake up if you will tell flock stories!

Please don't kill Cheyenne. I rather like her.

Ok, who wants this lovely blue Orpington boy? He's such a light blue, can't wait to see how his hackles come in.

And, dang it, is this 6 week old chick a BR pullet or a BR/Del cross cockerel?

Comb is still very small, but quite pink for this age.

No worries Aunt Cyn I shall not kill the adopted neice...but she is going to be contemplating whether or not death would be easier than the grounding she is going to get. Drama at this age you know...I can hear it now "No Mom...just kill me but don't take away my freedom, my electronics, my phone oh God anything but that". uh huh suck it up....do the crime you do the time. grrrrrrrr

I would take him if I could. I'm beginning to think I like orpigntons. Oh heck if silkies were the only chicken I'd..............................................................nah couldn't do it.
Now I am going to want to hatch some of those and BR's come spring so if your gonna have eggs I'll buy them from you. The orpingtosn were some of the nicest at the fair. Whattya think.

Oh! Ho! Ho! Ho!! Hooooo!!! That is rich! Yeah, hit 'em where it really hurts! In the communication network of friends. No texting, talking or chatting on line. Then tell her with all of that free time that she'll have on her hands now, she can spend it contemplating just where she went wrong....and while she's at it, she can clean her room!!

Their personalities may be different as night and day, but teens the world over are all pretty much the same when it comes to the silly stunts they'll try to pull! Has Cheyenne gotten to that point where she resents the living daylights out of being compared to ANY other human, living or dead? I know that's something that just drives my Annie right out of her ever lovin' tree!!
gig.gif
Once in a great while, when I'm feeling particularly snarky, I'll compare her to someone she doesn't like, just to get a rise out of her! **insert evil grin here**
