Our Marans hens are just sweet as sweet can be. The roo is nice, not human aggressive but a hormonal idiot yet. Our black Orps were feathered dolls, would grumble at most when broody. Hint hint.

Knox they are really great, I love my Orps. When these grow up a bit, I will get you some eggs. I have a pair that are are crosses too....blue orp daddy and mom is buff orp & rir. They're gorgeous and gonna be huge. LOL

First of all, the Terrorist launched another attack tonight at roost time-she almost became a Suicide Flogger

Caroline
, my Buff Brahma, is not doing well. She has breathing issues anyway, her nasal passages are easily irritated so she sneezes many times a day, always has. Tonight, she is making a horrible noise and I'm not sure she'll be here in the morning. Remember when I thought she was dead when she and Panda had the fight and she ended up on her back? It was super hot and humid and I think she couldn't breathe when she was all worked up. Again, very humid and hot tonight, and so she isn't doing well. She's not a young girl, either, going on 5 years old now. Miranda, her Lt. Brahma "sister", is hanging close to her, looking very concerned. She was the one who broke up the fight between Caroline and Panda. Isaac and Georgie are already in the house with the same issue. I think the conditions set up a situation that was ripe for these issues. I can't change the stupid weather.

A week in the house getting misted with oxine fixed up Reba, Nugget and Shadow and they still seem fine, but if this weather doesn't break, they could have a relapse.

I had to share, Shug, my 20 week & 2day old pullet laid her first egg today and let me watch as it happened. I also heard one of the New Hamoshires doing the egg song today and I found another pullet egg on the dropping board from this morning. I assume it came from one of the NH's since she is the oldest girl that roosts there besides Shug.
The two pullet eggs are on the left side. Shug's is the bottom one with the stripe.
