Awwww Cetawin, that's great! I know there will never be another Thor, but if this little guy can help ease that pain in your heart, then that makes him just that more special!
WOOHOOO!!!! and YEEEEEHAAAAWWW!! Joleta Bey is on her way!!! May you and she have a lifetime together LH!
I bet you won't get a single wink of sleep tonight! Anyone wanna place bets on where LadyHawk sleeps tomorrow night???
KAAAAATTTHHYYYY!!!! KATHY! Where are you woman! Front and center please!!! You are NOT gonna believe what that little girl of "ours" [yes, I still consider her to be partly yours as well!
] was up to this morning!
She's gonna be the death of me yet with all of her little shenanigans!
So, I'm returning to the coops with two full buckets of water for everyone. As I approach the boys coop, something looks rather amiss. No, amiss isn't right term...more like...more there than should be there.....As I come around the corner of the fence and into their yard, I see Maggie! Yes! MAGGIE!! Sitting in the doorway at the top of the ramp to the boys house. Just sitting there as though that was where she belonged all along and had every right and reason to be there!
That crazy woman! Does she not realize that those boys have not had the comfort of female companionship in quite some time?
Much to my amazement, there was not so much as a single feather missing from her precious little head, nor one feather ruffled. I was utterly amazed! I figured my boys would have attacked her the moment she found her way into there. But they didn't. All three of them looked as though this was the answer to all of their prayers and that they weren't going to do a single thing to jeopardize their blessings. Either that or it was pure shock on their part!
The verdict is still out on that score.
So, I picked her up, asked her just what the heck she thought she was doing over there, and started looking around for how she could have gotten out of her covered run and into theirs! Especially since the doorway to her covered run has been closed ever since the snow started falling last week. There has been a hawk hanging around every day since then too, and I've thought it prudent to keep them restricted to the coop and the covered run.
After a couple of minutes of looking around, I figured it out. Little Miss Smarty Britches had probably launched herself from the roost bar in the run and flown straight out the gable end framing that is shared between the main coop and the boys coop. Really nothing to it for a bird as smart and as good at flying as Maggie is, I'm sure!
That little pill! She and her daughters really are gonna be the death of me yet! I swear they're gonna give me a stress heart attack!!
Gawds! But I do love her!
I suppose I'll just have to climb up there and install some chicken fencing to keep them separated. *sigh*
Well, we finally got to town today. The roads were absolutely beastly, but at least they had been ploughed by the county. There was some bare pavement, but for the most part it was compact snow and ice. All that matters at this point is that our Annie is safely home, and I now have a months worth of scratch grains laid in, though I'll have to return later this next week for their layer crumble. As luck would have it, the feed store was completely out! They were also out of the 50# bags of diatomaceous earth as well.
Dang it! I really want to get my hands on that! Hopefully they'll have that in on Wednesday as well. I need it, and I need it RIGHT NOW! My poor babies are trying to take dust baths in their shavings!!
Now that's desperation!
Anyhow, the next wave of snowfall isn't expected until sometime Monday afternoon/evening. We should be in most excellent condition by then, well rested, and ready to tackle whatever falls by Tuesday morning! I LOVE SNOW!!!!!!!!
