Sebastopol Geese Thread !!!!!!!!!! SHOW YOUR PICS !!!!!!!!!!

You have to be NPIP, and check that the state you are shipping into doesnt have wacko requirements before hand. Most offices dont know the guidelines for shipping so are of no help.

Adult poultry HAS to be sent express
Day olds can be sent priority

Adult fowl must be packaged without food or water because liquids, moisture, and loose foodstuffs can cause damage to the shipping container, other mail, and Postal Service equipment during transport.

sometimes there are dry ice shipments that prevent a live bird from being sent. That requires calling ahead and knowing if its a conflict. We have to call ahead (to the hub) to find out if there are any dry ice conflicts for each out going box.

****edited to add***** NPIP is optional in all states, however most have import laws in place that if arent met can result in fines and other issues such as quarantines. So even though many ship w/o being NPIP, it is a risk. Also if you are NPIP, then of course if you buy from a non NPIP seller your NPIP is void. (unless they gain a health certificate for the live bird showing it is also disease free.

We are both NPIP.. and have shipping experience. :) Just needed to know if anyone knew if there was an embargo from this route this time of yr :) Thanks for the heads up about dry ice... never encountered that before.

I sent ducklings to CA recently with no issue. About to ship sebbies to TX. Dry ice, and express service are the only issues I have ever come across. The dry ice can delay us sending by a day, or force a reroute through a different receiving hub.

Call your airport and find out if there is a lives embargo for birds. I have had problems with that as well because Chattanooga uses dry ice. Just got a goose shipped here though, and it was able to be sent to my local office with no problems. It might have to be 2nd day express since its over so many miles.
We wouldn't ship him any other way :)
