Hello- does anyone here know what happens when you cross a silver and a golden sebright?
Just curious, as I have a year old golden roo housed with my LF's, and i was thinking about eventually putting all my sebrights in a run together. I just got a few silvers.
Thanks in advance!!
I asked the same thing, as I had bought a golden pair and a silver hen, and was told that I would get Buffs. In the thread, I've been told that that may take generations to occur, and the best bet is to buy buffs. I am now hoping that I get maybe speckled Sebrights? Waiting for the eggs to hatch, right now.

I didn't realize that I wasn't on the final page of the thread when I posted...yep, what he posted, right up there! hahaha!

I have a newbie question on predicting feather marking. Do the markings they have on their first feathers pridict how cleanly marked they will be as adults? Maybe it is a stupid question, but I notice some of my 13 day old chicks have sharper markings, while others have splotches of black where it should not be on the feathers. Maybe this picture will help. Notice the chick in the foreground has black shading out of place, compared to the one in the middle?
Thanks,
Jim

I would love to know the answer to this also...

They will go through several sets of feathers before adult feathers, but oftentimes a bird that is overly dark will have heavier lacing as an adult, but not always.

About that "black bleeding" on the chicks; I was told that the goldens are more prone to bleeding black into their feathers, as yours are showing. It may or may not go away. Silvers tend to bleach the black lacing. Also, the Roos may not be henny-feathered in their first year, and may actually have sex feathers until the estrogen-vs-testosterone competition causes them to henny-feather. I also read that in a genetics study concerning the Sebright. It seems that Auracaunas and Sebrights are quite commonly studied by geneticists, as they have such unusual genetic traits. I am still searching to find that study.

As for the egg hatching of the golden/silver cross; I haven't had ANY of them hatch, yet. I slipped 3 into the nest with my Barred Dome Gamey, yesterday. Gamey has an exemplary record, so I have high hopes. All 3 of my adult 'Brights are very young. The silver started laying about 2 months go, and the golden about 1 month, and the Roo is the only "older" one. He's 1 year-old, this month...maybe they were just too young? We'll see. I have much more confidence in Gamey's abilities, than mine or anyone else's.
