Second order from McMurray, DEAD

They are a good hatchery. We ordered from them a few years ago and had to drive 45 miles to the main post office to pick them up or else they would've been delivered 15 hours late. Worth the drive, everyone was alive and well!

I recieved my chicks 25 with 3 extras added. All were fine and have had them since 6am monday morning. I ordered them from MM and I think they sold me quality chicks.

My first order from McMurray arrived late and DEAD, well one out of 26 survived. They send a replacement order. They were due yesterday, still not here today. They too will arrive DEAD.

I wonder if the OP ever got his replacement chicks and if they were alive. He hasn't posted since he started this thread over a week ago. I hope that they arrived alive.

Yinzerchick, I feel the same way I have a shipment scheduled from them as well for the week of April 23rd.. I am so super nervous this is my first shipment of chicks ever. I live in Loxahatchee, Florida ( 20 miles west of West Palm Beach) I would be so sickened if they show up dead.

I am now really nervous. So many factors involved with the shipment of anything alive.

Oh my, such sad stories! I'm expecting my second order from MM on or about 3/19 and I'm worried sick now. My first order arrived with all 26 chicks peeping and healthy. Didn't loose a single one, in fact, a year later they're all still doing well except for 2 that were lost to predators.
I'm going to be frantic now, I can't bear to think of receiving a box of dead peeps!

I have to go to ourmain post office office branch to pick them up, so if the box isn't peeping I'm not even taking it!

I have some coming June 4th and I am not worried have ordered several times over the past 30 years and all have arrived alive.

I ordered chicks and the earliest avail. date was July 30! I think that is too hot to have them shipped so I'm going to drive the 5 hours each way to the hatchery to pick them up. I just don't think I could stand to have them show up dead or dying!!

I think the trick is you have to really plan out at least 3 months in advance to get the dates you want.
I ordered mine in January for an April delivery. I picked April as I figured it was warm enough everyplace without worrying about them getting chilled and dying over it.
The heat can be just as bad as the cold. Slippery slope with these peeps.

I think I'll try Mt. Healthy the next time. I ordered form Meyer this year (ordered in December, 3 months before ship so as to avoid problems) The day they were due to ship they called and said 15 of them did not hatch and if they did not hear from me that day..they would credit me and send 1/2 the order. I called back and took a bunch of left overs basically just to get some chicks. They arrived 2 DOA and lost 4 more in next 24 hours. All that died were extremely small ( So much so that I thought they messed up and sent me bantams) They were obviously from very young pullets. So they apologized and put in a replacement order for a month later. AGAIN A call the day they were supposed to ship. The 5 chick replacement did not hatch again (supposedly) and they had no replacements in any breed of chicken for me.
I wont do business with them again if they gave them to me.....
