Seeking advice in raising chicks

I much prefer a cardboard box.

I have to use something far more physically secure than a box. I have 2 dogs and a cat whom I don't trust around chicks. The chicks would be in a room that the dogs and cat aren't allowed in, but I'm not taking any chances.
I am thinking I will go with the dog kennel because it is more secure.
