So, Vet recommended a pea siized ammt of the safe guard paste daily for 3 days while we treat with amprolium. This might take care of the Blackhead, and if it does per fecal tests we might not need to use the metronidazole.
Day 1. trying it on a small piece of bread, as chickens still view me as the angel of death. I have been trying to pet them but they either run away or I get pecked. I now have a bleeding thumb. LOL
I took their food out last night so they would be hungry. brought out 4 small pieces of bread ( 1 slice cut 4 ways minus crust. I was hoping to get one to go in the ben and then shut the door, one to go in the run and shut the ramp and 1 upstairs in the coop with the 4th in any of these 3 places. Just to separate and make sure each one got one. It snowed this morning and nobody will go outside, so that didn't work. Even hungry, they didn't want the bread. Pecked at it some...I sprinkled the safeguard part with a few pieces of food. They ate some. I put some jelly on the bread, they ate some.
Now I know whay she wants me to do this for 3 days LOL. Maybe it would be easier to catch them at night and do it with a syringe?
Note: at this time, they all seem to be acting healthy. They're all acting normal, other than the fact they want nothing to do with me. I almost got to feel Monkey and Ginger's crop this morning, will keep trying.
