My feed store is bringing Speckled Sussex chicks next week. I will be buying two, any advise on what to look for when selecting them.

Thanks

I'd say as a general rule just pick active chicks with bright eyes that looks to be in good condition, and never take home anything you feel sorry for unless you're willing and able to take care of it.

I admit I wasn't paying much attention when I got my SS chick (I was trying to pick out 2 different colored EEs) and ended up with a SS that had extra toes... At first that didn't seem like a huge issue but it was just one sign that she wasn't quite "right," she has had a lot of health problems including balance issues and even though she's an active adult and accepted by the flock, she doesn't lay and struggles to roost (or even stay upright).
