I wish I was closer, I would love to have that Lavender Roo.

Coincidentally, I was raised in Lexington but have drifted down to N. Florida over the years and looks like I'll be staying.

If you have eggs to sell in the future, please let me know.

.....He looks Lav, esp in that fourth picture down. The roosters have those darker streaks. I'm not sure if its your camera, but he looks like he might be having some gold bleed through. If he was mine I would pair him with a few blk splits, to take the gold out of the offspring.

OK I am wading in here....7th picture down. He has dark areas in his back, towards the tail. He could be a split but he looks like splash is mixed in or could just be blue splashing him up. Dark in the hackles is common in some lavender cockerels but never splashy looking. I am speaking from our lines and I have learned what to expect from them. Pictures are HARD to tell and they do change as they mature. Test breeding will tell the truth if you see lavender chicks coming from him. Nice bird...looks like good type.

I have learned the HARD way....if a rooster is really important to your breeding program, KEEP TWO. Or if you need two keep three. LOL Always have a spare. "STUFF" happens and mostly to the birds that are the most important to you.

Another thing I have done is keep two, although one isn't as good but he is back up and then really USE the good roo between two pens of females. I had 10 hens/pullets, put 5 on each side and then moved my best lavender cockerel back and forth. He would stay "visiting" for 4 days and then move on. This really helps keep your hens less stressed and in better condition.

Thanks Bren!!!! Thats a great idea! I have two pens and I will keep the two best roos and switch the best roo from pen to pen. Thanks! Ohh and how big of a pen do you keep your 5 hens in?
