Self-Sufficient Homemade Recipes

I read on another forum about using the homemade detergent and people were saying that it was graying their whites a bit. They also had hard water so they were adding calgon water softener to their mix and that was solving the problem. Just thought I'd pass that on if someone else was experiencing graying.

RE: The question about oil of oregano, I have used 2 varieties of oils: Simplers and Young Living. I think the YL is only sold through dealers, so that might be tough to find. I have bought these based on the counsel of others and don't really know anything about quality oils yet

Not a cure but helps. My DH has leg cramps so bad he has passed out from them. I take a hand towel get it wet and put it in the microwave for about 25-35 seconds put it on the cramp then I do the same with a second hand towel that way I can rotate them so he has a hot towel at all times. Cramps are usually gone in no time. You will have to adjust the time in the micro wave but towel needs to be as hot as he can stand. Told DH to please arrange to have all cramps before bed our bedroom is upstairs from the kitchen. Ha said at least I'm getting good exercise

Salt tablets also, if he is working out in the hot sun and sweating alot. My Mom has to take those for her leg cramps. Sometimes a lack of calcium can give you leg cramps....had them for each pregnancy....excruciating!

This is back on the liquid laundry detergent that doesn't need to be reheated. I have a front loader washer that is supposed to use "he" lowsudsing detergent. How much of the detergent do you guys use per load?

I tried your instant oatmeal today and it is wonderful!! I just left out the raisins (didn't have any), but I can just add apple, banana, blueberries or whatever I have on hand. I'm going to try the rice mix too. I'm going to leave out the chicken flavoring so if I want beef instead, I can just add it when I fix it. Thanks so much!!
