Selling eggs, How much to charge?

My chickens can't pasture/free roam my entire yard, I have hawks/owls/other predators to worry about, they are out in a nice size exercise run all day, they go into the coop at night to sleep, and throughout the day on their own to eat/access coop water (they have water in the exercise pen too). I don't know what term to use then.

Again, I'm new to this (I got my chicks in May and June, first chickens I've ever owned) and trying to learn things myself.

I'll check more into my feed. I have them on a starter/grower right now, I think I need to switch the bigs over to a laying soon (they're 4mos 1 week)?

Sounds as though you are on the right track. I would worry about predators as well, since any opportunist carnivore would consider a flock of chickens a buffet. There are many good recommendations on this site as to when to transfer from growth to layer feed. Started mine at about 20 weeks. Started laying just shy of 24 weeks. Well, two of the three did....Alice just sits around and acts as a cheerleader. Might have to start giving her the old lecture....when I was YOUR age I was laying eggs all the time!

BYC is the place to go for poultry info, as well as various other critters. I have learned quite a bit about the "Egg-centricities" of backyard fowl from reading the various posts. Chickens can be wonderful pets as well as productive members of the family. Keep them clean, fed, and safe. Don't put KFC buckets where they can see them....

Agreed...used to be good back in the Devonian period when I was young...now it's Popeye's or nothing....except up here in Paradise, CA, three restaurants offer "Broasted" chicken, which is pretty darn good...and two for one on certain days! It's good to be King!

You cannot beat broasted chicken!!!! I have to say, if I am pressed to have non-homemade fried chicken out here I like the stuff from our Kroger's deli - all the fast food versions are just blech!

One thing I miss about the PNW is how all the convenience stores have the hot boxes of different fried foods - including "Chester Chicken".
