Sounds like Congratulations are in order as well!I am thrilled with them so far. Gotta love the spots, they give each and every one personality. This was the first batch I ever hatched from my incubator. The first chick to emerge came out at the start of day 20. His/Her name is Uno (i know, hahaha, I thought it was cute).
Lockdown this afternoon!![]()
Whee...what a busy 2 weeks! Working on another 8x4 pen for "teenager" chicks....with that said....
I have 41 eggs in the incubator. 35 Olive Eggers, 5 Barred Rock, and 1 Splash Copper Maran. The Barred Rock and SCMaran eggs are from young hens that just started laying this summer, so they are kind of a test run. The roosters in both these pens are also young, so I'm not overly optimistic with them....but I had to give them a try.![]()
They will be Day 7 tomorrow, and I'll probably candle them Monday or Tuesday...if I can wait that long.
Looking forward to seeing some more new chick pictures!

Well crap! I can candle them while in lockdown?80%...too high. When you see it that high, lift that lid! At least for chickens..ducks are different. But even for ducks, that's too high for incubation.
It's time to candle your eggs and see if there is any movement. If so, put them back, keep that humidity down to the low 60's.
I'm right behind you. I'm nervous as heck. Good luck![]()
