We are on our second attempt at shipped Serama eggs. We had one almost make it out of the first, but they had a rough trip. I hear Seramas are a difficult breed to hatch alone because of their small size, delicate eggs and lethal gene and shipping adds it's own schlew complications. But we're not giving up yet! We have 6 out of 18 alive and due for lockdown on Monday. We are so new at hatching, we are still learning the "art". I'll let you know how it goes!
Ok thank you. They feel sometimes cool and sometimes really hot. I think the cool ones are not alive. I think the hot ones are alive and wiggling off a lot heat. I played them YouTube videos and I swear they got more active and warmer. Everyone that's cool has not survived. They are wiggling and shaking the probes off.I'm like Gita, I go by the feel of my eggs a lot. I don't have one of those fancy thermometers that you can place a bet on. I first get them to where they feel just right. Then I look at the thermometer and keep it where it says. I had a harder time keeping the humidity right at first, then I learned for lock down, no condensation on those windows. And, pretty much, just fill the wells. I won't let the humidity reading go over 62% on mine. My bator does not cool down at night, even with the air on in the day, and a fan on in that room at night. I have it set just where I want it, so I don't change anything from the time it is set where I like it. I know how far to leave the door open for the air to get into that room, and I know that the fan on is good. You get so you know what works for you.
One more thing..if your eggs feel like they have a high fever...lower the temp.
