***SEPTEMBER HATCH-A-LONG come join in***

I Candled my 18 Ameraucana eggs last night at 7 days, and good news! 15 are growing!!

Last hatch from this breeder, only 4 out of 16 started growing with only one hatching. She was really great and sent me replacement eggs and these are exceeding my expectations!! Really looking forward to a colorful hatch of Wheaten, Blue Wheaten, Lavender and Lavender Split ( black or Lavender) chicks!

Only five have hatched so far, a few more eggs are wiggling however. I'm not super hopeful about the percent hatched but I AM super glad that SOME of them hatched. They're so cute and fuzzy, and the really fat looking one eats laying down. More pics to come when everyone is done hatching.

So we're up to 18 quail babies with two more pips. If we get to 20 it's a 1/3 hatch rate INCLUDING cracks/leaks/infertile. I guess factoring those numbers+ temp fluxes= not really a bad hatch rate. Plus the older babies are so chunky and cuddly looking

can't wait for the serama chicks hehe

alright did my first candling on this hatch. out of the 13 ee's that are on day 9 i am now down to 4. not a good start. the ones that are on day 6, i didn't see any that screamed "there is life in here" but they are marans egg so i left them all in until further notice. and i candled the serama eggs that are on day 3 just for fun and i think i have some developing

so fingers crossed that some of the marans are developing and i just cant see it and fingers crossed that the serama's are also developing. will candle again when i put the 4 ee's that are left into the hatcher for lockdown in 9 days.

I candled my eggs and it does not look good, they look like they we're shook up during shipping.

mine (30 silkies) were only on day 2 yesterday but I candled a few last night. Some appear to have displaced air sacs so not a good sign, I think they get really shaken up in the mail here. One looked like it had started developing before it arrived but I've left it in to see what happens. I haven't had much luck with silkie hatching so far, the eggs have to travel quite a distance to get to me. I would be very happy with a 25% hatch rate.

I have 1 baby button in the incubator this morning!

I am trying really hard not to get too attached to any because I am going to sell them all .. depending on how many hatch ...
