September Hatch-a-long!

Pics
I am starting to collect eggs for a second hatch this time with them laying down, didn't know what the thing was as used incubator had one you stood them up in and ended up with a bunch of mal-positioned ones, just looking for the instruction for using thi one that came with the hoveabator I got, I do have a little it different issue as I hatch at high alltitude .

18 Eggs are out of my flock,a pea combed Amerecuana roo on RIR hens along with some of my neighbors flock will update when total number is known and ready to start

High altitude has it's own set of challenges. I am at 6000 feet above sea level and a very dry climate in a Very Dry year...... so if I set shipped eggs I set my humidity higher.... around 45-50% , but if I set very dark eggs, or Turkey, i set it at 35%. Now that being said every location has things that work better than others. It's taken me a Lot of trial and error to get a better handle on my bator. Oh almost forgot summer and winter hatching is different to.... what works in the winter for me fails in the summer, I even have to move the incubator to the different room..... lol

One of my eggs has an air cell on the wrong end... I talked about it in a different thread, but thought I'd mention here... It was shipped, I let it rest 24 hours before setting in my mini brinsea advance, and didn't begin hand-turning till 24hours after starting incubation, so 48hours after shipment. Still, aircell hasn't budged, except to elongate since the very first day. This is day three, no signs of life in my blue eggs yet (which I have 6 and 1 brown egg set the same time), not sure what to expect or do. It's being kept and rotated on it side, at 99.5F and 30-40% humidity. It also looks a bit porous? Pic below. My twelve serama hatch is still going strong, going in to lockdown in two days !!:yesss: Can't wait! Hope everyone else's are still doing great!

I briefly candled my incubator eggs (not in perfect conditions as there was some light) yesterday and not looking good - seems 5/7 are not fertile :rant:rantThe worst bit being they are all the cream legbars :hit:hitI have masses of them under the broodies as well so I'm really hoping that those ones are OK, or at least some of them. You may remember the breeder I go them from was a bit worried about them when he sold them to me as he'd lost one of his roos so gave me 12 eggs on top of the 12 I bought to be sure I got some but if the rest are the same I'm going to be gutted :hit:hit:hitI'm going to have another look tonight when it is dark before I chuck them.
