Hi everyone,
I'm so glad to find this thread! I am addicted to incubating! I currently have 12 BBS Orpington eggs under my SLW broody (due 14th Sept) and in my incubator I have 24 BBS Orpington and 5 SLW eggs (due 21st Sept).
It is so exciting, I can't wait for them to hatch!!

Is it going to be THIS nerve wracking EVERY TIME?? Or is it just cause its my 1st hatch??? I have 3- 4 week old chicks in a brooder. It was right next to my incubator, so I moved it hoping to hear some peeping from the bator due tomorrowish!! Lol I keep watching the eggs to see if they wiggle at all. Its soooo nerve wracking!!!

it's always exciting....

Yes it is this nerve wracking. We humans so attached . Yester day I had the third of my precious Dutch blues hatch. They are so tiny that the bantam Japanese look quite large in comparison. My little Japanese are addicting enough. Now it is the blue Dutch bantams .

I collected 9 eggs from my little Japanese yesterday and I don't really want to hatch them out but I can't bring myself to eat the eggs either. I guess I am just too soft to do this. May be I will just stop and separate them and find them new homes ,...when pigs fly!

I purchased a new Cabinet incubator yesterday with a four hundred egg capacity .It is quite large and comes up to my chest. ......................... So much for quitting.

Lol. IKR! My boyfriend says I'm obsessed with chickens cause I'm always reading stuff in here and telling him about it. He thinks I've lost my mind, but so much to learn! This is my 1st hatch too!!! I sure hope they make it! They're just mutts, but I bet they'll be adorable!!

You sound just like me...husband says im the crazy chicken lady, kids say im always online reading the chicken website and I'm on day 6 of my first hatch (which im a nervous obsessed crazy person about it)!!!!!

I have finally candled my eggs, day 7. I have some quail eggs that I can't see through. Some of the BO/RIR eggs were really hard to see through too. HOWEVER, I do have 22 that have movement I can definitely see. What does a bloodring look like? There is 1 egg that may be a dud but I can't see the light penetrating the shell well. I'm putting it aside with a ? mark on it to see if I see anything different next week. I'm marking where the air cell is outlined each time. It's amazing the differences! Seeing the chickies moving toward the light was amazing! :D
