September Hatch-A-Long!

I put my eggs on lockdown Wednesday. They r due to hatch either tomorrow or Sunday depending on if u count the 1st day. Lol I'm thinking hmmm. Shouldn't they be moving around?? I have them all in the center together, does that matter? I'm so nervous! I candled at day 16/17 and saw movement in most.

I never have movement before they hatch.

Gonzo, little chick that hatched yesterday, died in my hand this morning. I was expecting it. What I wasn't expecting was to find one of my healthy Langshans dead this morning in the brooder. I have no idea what happened. Largest chick in there. 9 days old. I have to go to work. I don't want to come home to more dead.

not sure might want to have a backup bulb handy and keep a eye on the temps
.. mine hasnt done that but my thermostat sucks.(way too much play in highs and lows) but i did have a bulb blow on day 14 and i think it might have killed/hurt my hatch. i know i had 1 dead tonight when i candled (and devopment was stopped about day 14) so i hope all my other wigglers wernt hurt too much. the temp drop wasnt too major (since i hade 2 lights) but it might delay the ones that were on that side. crossing my fingers till there white that i get a few to hatch...
Yeah I have a whole new pack of bulbs just in case. Another question though. My two chicks from my August hatch (about a week old) are in the brooder and one seems to have some balance problems. Her head is constantly vibrating back and forth and she falls over a lot. Any idea what this is? I'm worried about her but she is eating and drinking...

So far 3 Mille Flers, 4 Orpingtons (1 beautiful silver), 7 mixed bantams. One half way zipped, two internal pips and a few more eggs left. All but one seem healthy. Gonzo is weak and tired. His eyes aren't quite right. They only open a little on the top. Anyone else ever have a chick like this? How did it do? Here are some of my new chickies on the way to the brooder. After they hatched, they jumped into the basket. They are so cute. Update on Pink. She was the one with her feet over her wings. She seems to be doing ok but walks on her elbows. She hangs out with me a lot. We had pedicures tonight. Pink of course.
I don't have any answers but I hope they all make it ok. One of my Partridge Penedesencas is wearing shoes this morning for curly toes.

DeannaA when you candle your eggs you never see movement??? you need a better candler!!

Yes I see movement in the egg.
Idk for sure if this is what DeannaA meant, but my original post was talking about not seeing the little eggs wiggling in the bator on lockdown.

I was also talking about the egg wiggling in the incubator. I haven't had one wiggle yet. It took a long time before I heard one peep before an external pip.

I don't see wiggling either but I think its because I read about having the eggs touch so I form mine a little circle with air cells facing out. I think I saw one wiggle finally. But its because I have one lonely egg in the bator right now that was set by itself.
