September Hatch-A-Long!

I just went down to add a bit of water to the bator and it's day 5 I figured I wouldn't see anything but I was going try and candle a few and see if I could see anything since I had the bator open anyways right!! So freaking excited I saw veins I candled 4 there is 48 in there and 3 outta 4 had veins!!! Yeah after having 0 outta 30 last time I'm so excited to see veins

I know how you feel , I had 9 eggs my 1st , none of them hatched very dispointed! Ive got 32 at day #2 , Checking my bator window every hour to make sure the #s are on point! 3 out of 4 sounds like good #s ! Good luck!

I know how you feel , I had 9 eggs my 1st , none of them hatched very dispointed! Ive got 32 at day #2 , Checking my bator window every hour to make sure the #s are on point! 3 out of 4 sounds like good #s ! Good luck!

I know it's like watching a boiling pot and it's the longest 21 days ever especially to have 0 hatch the kids were so disappointed last time and I think it was my mom's still air lg so I went to the local hatchery to buy a new forced air hovabator and they had one that was returned and they tested it worked perfect and was only $63 so it was like ment to be I bought it and then I stole my hubby's weather station and put the small receiver in the bator and I put the bator downstairs so the kids couldn't get at it lol and I have the weather station upstairs and I can keep an eye on the temp and humidity. Best thing ever so now I told the hubby he lost his weather station for the next 21 days lol he just shook his head. Good luck with your hatch I hope it turns out better for you this time!! I will be happy at this point to get one or two (Hopefully Pullets)

In my large breed pen I have 4 hens and 1 Roo left I took to Roos to get culled today

but the one (the nice one went evil yesterday) attacked my kids at total of 5 times in 1 day so he had to leave. So I'm hoping that by going down to one roo (the smaller of the 3) it will behave himself or he will be next

i actually said to my kids today that these eggs were like a watched pot..."a watched pot never boils" "a watched egg never hatches" weve been hovering the hatcher since lockdown friday...lots of rocking but no pips yet..

Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can regulate the temp of my homemade incubator? It is a still air styrofoam ice chest that I have in my bedroom closet. That is where I have my usual bator.at.

i think i have a pip.. no sounds (but my house is loud)
but one of the silkiex eggs had a tiny iddy crack right where a pip should be.

still air is hard (in my opinion) you could get a computer fan and wire it in to help circulate the air what are you using to heat it?
