Today is day 7 on my eggs set to hatch September 3rd! This will be my 4th hatch in my hovabator, my last hatch only had about 70% but I had THREE Power outages during that hatch so it was still pretty good. I drove about an hr and half to get these because I'm so tired of the bad hatch rate with shipped eggs I put 3 from my hens that started laying about 4 weeks ago and one of those was fertile, if it makes it to hatch it will be a sweet little Black Australorp X White Leghorn. The others are all full stock eggs from Ferrell Farms and will be Partridge Cochin, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Wheaton Americana, 2 white Cochin and 1 silkie. I have 35 eggs total in there and looks like all but 3 are developing!! Here's to hoping for a good hatch!
PS. I know hatch day is a little bit away but something I do when I put my eggs out of the turner in lockdown I sit them point end down in cardboard egg cartons. When I first started doing this with uneventful(no power outages, etc) hatches I got 99% hatch rate!! It really has made a difference!!
