September Hatch-A-Long!

I had a dream I was watching my eggs hatch. I was affraid one wouldn't make it but it did. It turned out to be a baby elephant. I was so excited. I was trying to figure out where I was going to put it after it was too big for the brooder.

Maybe I have been hatching too many lately.

Ignore all my panicked posts lol. I went shopping, got a brighter flashlight, and not only saw 5 perfect air sacs but 5 squirming, kicking babies in much better detail!! Yay!

My broody abandoned the nest around day 13-14, and by the time I realized all the eggs were gone.

Not sure what I will do different the next time one decides to go broody. Isolate in the rabbit hutch? Just keep taking the eggs and not let her set? Not sure I can handle the heartache of losing babies again because of abandonment.

When you all (if you do) put sponges in at lockdown do you ever have a problem with the chicks pecking at it? I had to add sponges to get my humidity up..worried they will try to eat it
