But then thefirst chick from a new batch hatches...seems with all the joys the last few weeks have been riddled with loss for a lot of us!

Somebody hatched them, so it counts.
This has not been a good month. I hope your chicks get better.I'm so sad today, my polish silkie died this morning now my sizzle seems to be going down hill...I have some legbars that sound wheezy and none of them have ever been out! only a week old and still in the house under the heat...I'm giving everyone the RX made up vitamin water with cayenne pepper and garlic in it antibiotics had to be mailed. none of the outside birds seem sick but I'm treating everyone!!

So sorry
My final two hatchlings are alive still but very weak. One is a blue orpington I think who I actually thought was a dead egg since about day 16, LOL! So glad she is alive still. The other is the miracle chick that shouldn't be here (100% assisted, busted yolk, head between thighs and behind her own butt with one foot up and over across her own back). So I will enjoy them as long as they are here, and not try to expect too much. I will get pictures when I get a chance. The whole family is down with a horrible tummy bug right now
