Oh no, I mistakenly assumed that the hole was the cleared beakJust did a quick check. Can still see the thin red veins so they have not fully absorbed but not seeing any movement whatsoever. Not responding to calling of gentle taps to the shell.

Got me some Runner Duck eggs ! Coming this week ! So Im in , LOL
Oh no, I mistakenly assumed that the hole was the cleared beakIMO you need to clear the beak. If the membrane is punctured you need to make sure they can breath otherwise they will try and may smother. I hope that hasn't already happened
I had one perfectly healthy chick who pipped, started to zip and blocked its own air hole with its back and died :'( So the number one thing is they have to be able to breathe, and the number two thing is patience. I would say we need to make sure #1 is taken care of. Fingers crossed![]()

Unless its malpositioned (which is very likely with all the bator issues) the beak should be visible through some part of the top membrane without having to chip shell. If you can't see the beak there - look for the eye and then figure out which side the beak is on. If you can't find the head at all then you have on breech and it is a much harder save with much less likely success.I'm fairly certain it's to late for this one. I chipped a bit more of the shell but cannot find the beak and it is no longer moving at all. no movement in about an hour now
I've set a dozen of I forgot what breeds they are. Sorry heidismom I am way too new to remember all the names. But it will be wonderful to find out when they hatch.
