Serious about Chanteclers...

Pics
@aart

Chicks are all just past two weeks, most have doubled in size. I believe that this one would have been hatched with neck twist but I did not examine each chick (have I said I learn something new often?).

I guessed that would be your reaction. This chick is managing to survive, get in to feed/drink, stays out of the way otherwise. I keep reminding myself that this is to be a good base to build a Chantecler flock from...

In the pics below:
  1. left corner
  2. just in front of corner of mama heating pad (contrast poor)
  3. right side behind waterer

Neck doesn't look too bad.
If a chick can get around and eat and drink, I wait it out....
...but it is really small, so something 'wrong' inside.
It's probably a cull if you're looking for good stock.
Have you had to kill a bird yet?
Very hard learning curve.

Thanks. I had to dispatch 3 cockerels last December after I caught 3 of them attacking one of my pullets. That had a bit of emotion involved, a chick would be more difficult.
