Set eggs 3/5. Looking for others to hatch with!

I have a pip this morning and its peeping up a storm in that shell!!!! How long does it take to hatch?

Around 12 hours usually, but up to 24 easily. Just be patient, you should have a chick soon.

Congragulations! I know you are excited, but you have to leave everything alone. You are taking the risk of killing it by messing around. Leave the hen on the nest and do not move her. After the chick hatches it will need to be under the hen to dry off and fluff up. Be patient. In a day or two you will get to see it come out and walk around and eat and drink. There is a reason why your hen will not get off her nest right now. She will not eat, drink, poop because she knows she has to sit right there on that egg or it may die.

Cali Chick, how are the babies this morning???
I am perplexed today. I candled and weighed eggs last night and very definitely one and possibly two of the porcelain silkie eggs are twins.

Porcelain is the color I need and the whole reason I bought those eggs. I left them in and will see how it goes. I don't even know how I would get them out of the incubator to assist in hatching if it would come down to that and I'm a terrible assister. If it were the BBS eggs, I would more than likely take them out.
JulieNKC, thank you for the advice on the weak chick. My DH actually is the one that took it on and gave it vitamins. Yesterday it was quite a bit stronger so I put it under a hen that just has one silkie chick and is still sitting an egg that is due to hatch. I saw it out and playing this morning and is looking very promising. It is half the size of a silkie, if you can imagine something so incredibly tiny. It has very nice coloring so it should be a real cutie if it continues to make it.
Lost one RIR chick overnight so we put up brooder lights over all the stalls. I think Yetta for some reason didn't let it under her. There was no apparent cause of death so I am going to guess it got too cold. If so, naughty Yetta. She better take care of the last two she has.
I sat new eggs this morning, 50 something, and have 27 in the incubator developing. A lot do not look very strong so it will be interesting to see which make through cut #2 and then on to lockdown.
I'm on the hunt for some more MF bantam cochin eggs! So I'm off to the auction to check out who has posted something I need for sale.

Its so hard to not watch it!! This is why I need an incubator. I could sit and watch for hours!!! Should I take the other 2 eggs out from under her? I havent heard any peeping, or heard any movement. No pips either. Also one more question. I bought 4 chicks from the feed store yesterday can I put those chicks under her once the egg hatches? Will she adopt them?

I know it's hard, but leave her alone! Do not take the eggs out from under her. I have eggs hatching in my incubator right now - one hatched yesterday, and 10 more today. If you take the eggs, you could be killing the chicks in them. Mama may or may not adopt the feed store babies. If you do give them to her, slip them under her at night, and be up early to watch her in the morning. I don't know if she would recognize them as strangers and kill them or not. Hopefully someone who has done this will be more helpful.

Yes, honestly, I have to admit you're killing me....

We all keep telling you leave things alone. You can't possibly hear peeping unless you're getting them out and messing with them. I wouldn't put any chicks under her until you see what she hatches out. She can only cover so many chicks. She might accept them and she might not. Why don't you keep the little chicks in the brooder so you can get those out and play with them and leave these other chicks and eggs alone.
Yes, get an incubator. You are so impatient I am going to guess that you will kill the first batch or two of eggs and then you will finally learn the really hard and devestating way to leave the eggs alone.
I just want you to know I don't mean to hurt your feelings. You just really aren't listening to anything that those of us who are trying to help you are saying.
