Yes DO NOT open unless it is absoutly necessary! I only open if I need to add water and to candle on day 10 and day18 before lock down. I know the eggs are furtle because I just hatched 24 out of 30 in my incubator and one of my hens hatched 6 out of 8.
Sending hatching vibes for all of you "first timers"!

Can I join in? I would love to have hatching buddies...
We set our eggs about 5 days ago they are due the 13th of April. This is our very first hatch and its with a bator my 14 yo son built. He calls it the Electric Chicken. LOL So far so good, the bator has mostly stayed at 99.5 but not sure if humity is ok... its been around 30-40%. Ive read SO many different opinions that I cant seem to keep track of which one we are doing. Seems like most everyone says to keep it between 30-50%??? Am I doing that right?

:Dsure awesome join in . Thanx btw new chickens. But sometime with the thermotere ( nclinical underam type ) I have to ope the bator, press the on buton rest the therm. down and close it then it reads the temp thats kinda problem with opening. But by tomorow i'll have an indoor on the wall type in there. My camera broken and it cant upload the vids i had for youtube. so i'll borrow my aunts's later in the week !

Going well. I'm trying the dry hatch method I read about on here. I did take a peak at a couple last night, and they are dev. Being a newbie I was afraid I'd just be running up the electric bill with no chicks to thank!

Of coarse the day after I set my eggs in the bator, I had 2 chickens go broodie. Go figure!

We are on day 7, we did peek at a few eggs yesterday but our candler isnt real great. cheep flashlight. We did see veins in a few of them but the silkies we paid for didnt seem to be developing.

Im in search of a better candler so maybe by day 10 we will have better results. So far no exploding eggs

i'm of hald day tommrow and until the 12th for easter break form school . I keep my incubator at my grandparents house beacuse dad gets fussy whaen i make stuff especialy dealing with electricals and what not so. so that gives me plenty of tyme to be up my grand parents . and too look at the eggs. I too use a phlash lite for candler. But the thype that only need one battery ( realy small O)

I'm so bad...we candled again. We are a homeschooling family, so I use the excuse that it's all for learning. Which of coarse it is!

Anyway, all of them have developed! WooHoo!
