One is out and 1 is zipping!!

The first one out IS a Splash!! I have hatched out so many that were "supposed" to be Splash and got Black, Blue etc.. But hopefully it will turn out to be a girl. I paid good money for these so hopefully they will be nice. The one out has a little beard and a nice vaulted skull. Soooo Excited!!

Today's the day! So far:

5/12 shipped Langshans are out

4/12 of my own BC Marans are out

3/10 shipped BC and Wheaten Marans are pipped.

All is not lost! After finding my temps had run low for who knows how long, I moved them to the hatcher on day 19 and all had lots of room left and I did not have much hope. Now on day 21 I have 3 pips from my eggs! I am trying not to get my hopes up yet, but am so happy to at least know there is still hope!

OK, tonight's update:

9 out of 10 of my own BC Marans hatched. The remaining one pipped into the air cell and drowned.

7 out of 12 of the shipped Langshans hatched. Every single one of them developed fully and was moving on Day 18, but didn't hatch for whatever reason--one pipped at the bottom of the shell and drowned, but I can't explain the other four.

Of the shipped Marans, 2 out of 12 are currently hatched, and 4 more are struggling. I'm not at all sure if they're going to make it or not. They have been much slower than all the others, and just seem weaker. They're also MUCH bigger, if that has anything to do with it.

So, still

for those last 4 Marans.

ETA: I forgot about my two little EE/Marans cross chicks--they're two for two!
