Setting 7/21 - should be due on 8/10 anyone else?

I set 10 silkie eggs and 2 duck eggs today. Never tried duck eggs so it should be interesting. My last silkie eggs did not hatch, so I'm hoping for better. If not, I will be giving up on silkies until I can find some close to here. They were all set under BO broodies, so they get to do the hard work

Fired up the bator yesterday and put first 3 trays in today. I have about 7 1/2 dzn eggs coming... I just want 20-30 hens...

I'm so concerned about this batch - the temps are wild here - they arrived in a box with a cold pack that was warm already, inside the bator at one point I saw it go to 104 with 60% humidity and outside our house it's 112 heat index with extremely high humidity! I don't hold out much hope for these guys.

DH said no more if this batch doesn't work - but we'll see

ya, not a good year for hatching eggs it seems....I don't remember having this much trouble back when I hatched eggs in the late 80's?

I think I'm already down an EE egg b/c the bator has a slight odor & that egg seemed to smell a little. I'll wait a day to double check its growth. Maybe it's left over odor? I thought I cleaned it out good enough - but maybe not.

Last batch I couldn't get the humidity above 45% for the 1st 18 days - this time it's around 60%! I don't hold out much hope for this batch - but I will not give up until I've looked them over at 7 days & 14 days. Then I'll do what I did last time - order a new batch and put it in there when no one is looking
