We all seem to be having some bad luck here! I just checked the temp on my eggs and it looks like they have possibly been at 91 degrees for 12+ hours

... This is after a day of fluctuating low temps

I'm crossing my fingers though.

thanks, and ditto.

i got the temp right again last night, but i added water this morning and the temp went all wonky to again up to 104, so i had to turn the temp down in there before i left. this is so aggravating! haha, sigh, groan, grumble.

Well, I bought an LED flashlight last night and DD13 and I candled all the eggs.

I have 5 or 6 that looked either clear or early quitters .. I set them in a line on one side of the bator (don't know why I can't just take them out .. LOL .DD13 was laughing at me)

But we saw plenty of moving kicking chicks in there .. so yipeeeee! They are resiliant little things.

Just over a week to go!

UGHHHH I NEED HELP LOL i went to check eggs in the bator with the turner they are on day 17 so i was going to put them in the other bator for hatching in the morning. And to my total shock a silkie egg had a huge pip what the heck so i quickly laid them in the other bator. But i am worried since they were in a turner and piped which means they are in position i hope lying them down will not kill them?

any advice i have never had one pip so early

Sounds like lots of crazy things going on this hatch for many of us....Starry I hope all goes well with your early bird! We have had a day of nothing wonky going on with power failures or mechanical breakdowns so feels a bit abnormal for things to be normal...although I came home and my 3wk old chicks had thrashed their brooder. Time to get them out of the house and into the coop and make room for the new guys.
Good luck to everyone during the final countdown.

DISASTER!!!!!

Not the incubator eggs, but my broody hen eggs. UGH! I had two broody hens. My little OEG bantam hen had 4 eggs as of yesterday morning. They were due to hatch any time. I came home from work and checked on her and she was EATING a chick!!!!!

The head was missing and she was shaking it. I took it away from her and she got mad. She had one remaining egg. There was no sign at all of other chicks OR eggs. I took her 1 last egg and put it in the bator. I did candle it and I'm almost positive I saw movement. I hope it's going to hatch.

THEN, my other broody hen, Wanda, had 8 more eggs she was sitting on. Two eggs hatched on day 17 (what?) and one didn't make it, so she had 1 live chick and 8 eggs. Sometime between last night and this morning she decided to abandon the nest and take her chick to feed it. ARGH!!! I appreciate her being a good mom to the chick, but those 8 eggs might be dead now! I put them in the bator this morning but I didn't have time to candle them so I have no clue if they're even alive anymore.

I'm having a rough time with these darn broody hens!

Oh Aggie .. that IS frustrating ..

Starry .. I wouldn't worry to much about your pipping chick .. let us know when it hatches!!
