I have 2 silkie mixed chicks out and 2 ee chicks out 3 more with pips. I had to move some older chicks to the bath tub for the night to many were in the brooder and they killed one i guess he got trampled. So i am off to hardware store to make a in between brooder for the week olds. TC all

I just heard peeps from the bator!!!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't help it! I'm not sure if it came from Wanda's abandoned eggs or from the 1 lone banty egg (Chick eater broody). Hopefully we'll have a pip soon!

Had six hatch the 3 the duck left were quiters so 2 left i dont hold much hope for them. Morning will telll nite all

This morning is lockdown. The brooders are set up and ready to go. Now I just have to keep my hands off and the lid on. This is the hard part.

I have 2 eggs in there that have done nothen at all. the others are hatched and fluffy. I am sticking them in a brooder latter today. I need to candle my others and see what i have. I hope these other chicks sell today they are starting to feather and i need them gone 45 and 25 more on the way is getting crazy here lol.

The thought of 70 chicks running around makes my head spin Starry. I have 3 3 week olds in the brooder and 12 (hopefuls) on the way. My hubby and I laugh that the 3 are like active 12 year olds and therefore are probably going out to their spot in the `big house`later today. Mind you we only have an acre of land so we are pretty small scale! Good luck with your chick sales! Lockdown this Wednesday for us...we are getting excited....and I am already thinking of what I want for the next hatch. Sad isn`t it?!

Its lots of work LOL for sure i just devided up the ee and the brahmas into one brooder and the polish mix into another brooder and the young ones into the brooder in the house. About to make a sign for the yard CHICKS for SALE

I am only keeping a few. And this week the breeder pens will be up i hope and all my rares bk were they belong. I have another 40 to go in the bator they are all ee eggs and silkie and mill fluer eggs this will be my last bathced of mixed . So for the next 6 weeks i will not keep there eggs so i can get my rares bk to a true line now that spring is here. GOOD LUCK ALL NEW CHICK MOMS

Quitters ...

I knew the temp fluctuations last week would take their toll .. 8 quitters .. I think.

I'm down to less than half of my original 26 .. And not sure about some of those .. I guess time will tell.
