setting eggs 5/10.

First of all: JEALOUS! Lockdown? Okay, staggered hatch, right? So do you run two incubators?

We have had some excitement with our hatch. A possible temp spike of 102 on Sunday. I don't know how long but we narrowed the window to no more than 3 hrs at most. Then when I fiddled with the temp, I dropped it to 97 for more than a day. These poor eggies. So..... with candling, I have seen wigglers, and at least one after the temp spike. We pulled 4 clears, and I'm going to do our first eggtopsies this time around.

Broody hen is hanging in, the kids candled her two remaining eggs, they saw veining on one and couldn't see into the other (OE), but Momma's comb is almost completely white, she's been at the broody thing for so long. I got her to eat a scrambled egg yesterday, then left her some tuna, but she didn't touch it. The Broody Hen Thread has recommended "Nutri Drench" for her, so I'm going to look for that at Tractor Supply today. Have a great day Folks!

8 MORE DAYS TILL HATCH DAY!!!!

Woo Hoo!! Congrats Akashia!

They pulled 3 clear eggs from the bator at my son's school, which leaves us with 36 eggs still cooking. I wonder how many chicks we'll end up with...

We'll know in about a week.

I have 1 chick supposed to go into "lockdown tomorrow & 12 chicks on Tuesday, 12 chicks on Thursday, 40 chicks & 7 ducks on the 4th, 3 ducks on the 5th & 2 ducks & 1 chick on the 11th.

Running a VERY staggered hatch...lol

so far we have had 6 of the 8 oldest hatch. Have 5 so far healthy chicks. Lost one after hatch and done an eggtopsy on the other 2 and they were quitters early on. Had one of the remaining 18 start to hatch this morning, so we moved it to the empty bator (after I cleaned and sanitized it). Candled them the night before last and all 18 were alive and moving. Lockdown is going to be monday. I have already brought the humidity up to about 60-65%. because it is still slightly a staggered hatch. There is about a 2 day difference in some of the ones that were fresh and the ones that were pulled from under the hen. So far so good though.

Mine should be about the same time. I set 11 but I am down to 8 now. Three were no good at all. I actually got them on the 8th when my hen got killed. But I didn't get them "warm" until the 10th so...
I will be locking them down tonight just in case they are more May 8th than May 10th. Candled last night and my Production Red egg is almost full.

well of of the 18 that were in the other bator I have had to move 3 to the other bator. Had 2 more this morning. one had already hatched and is in the brooder and the other one is taking his time. Had to move lockdown from mid morning monday to midnight monday morning. Have 3 or 4 of the fresh ones that I started were rocking and all. so far we have lost 2 chicks. so wish us luck on the other 15.

Good luck on you're hatch. Day 18 doesnt start till this evening for me. I'm not a morning person unless I'm getting ready to go to bed then. Thinking about switching to a different bator for hatch. I have a still air LG that was given to me. Is it better to leave them where they are? They are in a lg forced air. Or wold it be better in the other without the fan? I'm worried that I will kill them on the last 3 days.

My eggs 1st due date is tomorrow. I keep looking at them! Nothing so far but they could go later due to temp.
I am SO not a patient person! I tell my children lots that the only patients (I know it's spelled wrong) I have, are the ones I take care of.
Waiting is EXCRUCIATING!
