Setting eggs Aug 18, come join us

I forgot how much I HATE hatching shipped eggs! My eggs seem to be fading as I get closer to hatch.

When I candle the development seems further and further behind what it should be. The chicks are still moving, but seem to have stopped growing. I can see way to much light/ clear areas when I candle. I don't know what to think. I have hatched tons of my own eggs this year and have consistently had 100% hatch rates, even when I do everything I shouldn't like staggered hatches in one incubator. I have no idea how many of these little buggers are going to hatch, but I think I might be lucky to have six make it. If more hatch I think they will be late. There is nothing I can do but wait and pray.

I hope everyone else's eggs are doing alright.

I think all of my shipped eggs died

. Eggs from my hens are hatching ( control group). The eggs from one of my EE's is always hatching at day 19 and always is the first one to hatch. Can it be genetic?
They are always the most energetic when candling and always hatch at day 19. This is the third time I hatch one of her eggs.

Bad storm came through and we lost electric, so here I sit with 9 eggs on
On my chest with a blanket over them. I think I feel them moving.

At least they are alive!! My freaking bator just cooked my eggs!!! 14 EE Eggs all dead the end of the second week. Ive had it with the wafer thermostats. It screws up the end of the second week in every setting Ive done!!! Getting a digital rheostat before I set any thing else and to top it off I had to move Broody yesterday cause she nested right under where the water runs off the roof and we had major rain yesterday. She left the eggs this morning and never went back so those are now in the bator. Those seem to have made it through the cooking for now. They were at the very bottom of the bator on the far edge.Hope to God it stays stable enough not to kill them too.

You are the best momma hen ever! And a very nice human mother as well.

The things we do for love! I hope you get power back soon.

Yo burrill, I am so sorry you had incubator problems. I really like my Genesis 1588, especially the egg turner.

Well I have my first pip.... at the wrong end of the egg!

Seriously! These chicks must hate me or something. I candled again real quick as I was adding water, which is how I found this pip, I think I see a few more that should pip soon.

ONE Of my weathen ameraucanas made the first pip!!!!!....can't sleep now. OMG!!!!!! So happy.I would love to have at least 2 out of the 15 ameraucanas.Only this 2 wheaten made it to lock down. They are going to be really spoiled chicks... My first ameraucanas!!!!! Hatch day is tomorrow for me. Almost all of the eggs from my hens had hatch today.

I hope you end up with a lovely pair!

candled before lockdown last and all twelve are still alive. Can't wait to see how many will actually hatch' as this is my first hatch, I'm quite excited. Out of the six due for the following Sunday, we moved four to a different bator so they won't be disturbed by their hatching brothers and sisters, and 2 were quiters.
Good luck everybody!:D

Here I sit on hatch day and one pip this morning and nothing else. They are all silkies from my girls. I am running my humidity lower from what advice I have gotten other breeders say they do better LD between 30-40% .

fl.gif
Good Luck, with you silkies. I tend to incubate in that humidity range and hatch at around 60 -65%. I play with the numbers a bit depending on what is going on. I have done a lot of staggered hatches this year so I just adapt things to suit my current situation.

I have two cochin chicks hatched.

One very cute mottled, and one little blue. The little blue was the first pip at the bottom end. Poor thing, his shell was so pointed, he/she had been so uncomfortable.... I had to help it along a bit by removing the shell form the small end of the egg. Then I wrapped the chick and membranes in a damp paper towel and let him do the rest. The blue's egg was marked mottled, but it looks more solid colored than I expected.

I guess I will wait and see how it feathers out. I have five more eggs pipped, and one more that should pip soon, I candled it and I could see the beak in the air cell. I have five other eggs I feel dubious about, but I won't have time to worry about them until tomorrow evening.

Good luck every one with yiur hatches. I'm on day 19 and a half and I have a.pip this.morning and the chick is.chirping. The egg was not a regular form but elongated, the chick must not have been comfortable. So excited!!!!!:D
