Setting Eggs Saturday April 20... anyone else?

Didn't get to candle last night.. but definitely will tonight...  tried a bit ago,but its just to light out....

my temp seem to be running rather low.. not sure what the issue is.  I seem  adjust it to go up a little every day.  I thought it got hotter in there as the chickies grew??

what are you all running at?

a few more days to go...  whoo hooo!:weee

Did you add water that wasn't warm enough? I now heat up my water to 100 degrees before I add it to the bator.

Is the weather turning cooler in the last few days where you live. A drop in the ambient room temperature could cause a drop in your bator temp. My temp is around 99.9 degrees now. A week ago, it was at 99.5. Yes, the temp goes up slightly as the eggs get closer to hatch date in my experience. I am not adjusting it down as I figure it should be okay. We will see. In my first hatch last year, I adjust the temp constantly to keep it at 99.5 degrees. I had a great hatch then.

I am putting 8 pilgrim goose eggs in incubator today, my first time with goose eggs, I watched my dad do it when I was younger, his would always hatch, but he is older now and his memory is not good, I have hatched chickens, ducks and guineas but never geese, gosh I hope they do well! I just love the pilgrim geese and I can not find goslings any where, I would appreciate any suggestions thanks

11 out of 14 is really good. Hope they continue to do well.
I'm happy with that, considering it's my first time to incubate eggs. There would have been a few more good ones in there but I made a mistake after the first candling. My records tell me that egg #14 was good at first candle, but when I went to recandle it the other night, it was NOT in the incubator. I must have culled it by mistake! Another egg I thought was a dud at first candle, but the eggtopsy said otherwise. Oops. Hopefully I won't make any other faux pas before hatch date. Lesson learned. When in doubt, leave it alone and recheck at a later date!

Will check in at hatch date. Can't wait to see my little tiny baby Silkie chicks!

My duck eggs just went into lockdown this evening! The call ducklings look small in their eggs and don't fill the whole egg, so I'm worried about that. I'm wondering if they're supposed to be small in the egg because they're miniature ducks. Does anyone have any experience with call duck incubation?

My BF candled some call duck eggs today to show me (they are due to hatch Tuesday) and the shell was pretty full. The baby was almost at the airsac. I'm super new at incubating/hatching so can't give any kind of expert advice here. All I can say is if things look healthy and babies are moving in the shells, then just cross your fingers and hope for the best. I'm told hatch rate on call duck eggs is not great.

Good luck!

Silkies are so cute. I hatched 5 last month. You will love them. They are noisy though as babies. It is interesting that the smallest chicks are the noisiest.
Oh boy! Little big mouths huh? That's pretty funny since my adults are pretty quiet - even my roo is pretty quiet. I'm going to be on pins and needles until hatch day! Waiting is always the hardest thing...
