Setting eggs today 5/31/11

Absolutely I would love to have people hatch with me

.

I have 6 mutt eggs not sure exactly who laid the eggs. They are from my sisters chickens RIR, Buff Cochin, Silver laced Cochin, Black Cochin, Barred Rock, and Gold Laced Wyandotte not sure what I get but I am sure that they will be amazing.

I also have 3 Buff Orpington eggs shipped
and 3 Ameraucauna eggs also shipped

We shall see what happens and who hatches. It should be amazing.

Okay I was totally curious so I candled one of each kind just to make sure that they were starting to develop. All three had developed air cells but I can't see any veins yet, probably because the eggs are so dark. I will candle them again the next time I have to fill the water choosing different eggs to make sure they keep progressing okay. I am now starting to get really excited

It's very exciting. My sister asked me why I wanted more chickens I think it's just the idea of hatching and seeing what comes out that is super enticing for me. Her chicks are so cute some of them are black based with brown and white spots and gray as well on them. Not sure what's hiding inside my eggies but I can't wait to find out.

I also have 4 Ameraucana eggs that go into lockdown on next Tuesday...They will be my only "pure bred" eggs that I have ever hatched....My first hatch was barnyard mixes and I got 3 out of 6, my 2nd hatch was also barnyard mixes and 2 guinea eggs, I got 9 out of 14 chickens and 2 out of 2 guinea....I can't wait to see if I can get at least 2 of the ameraucana's to hatch!

Same here any boys born in the mixes will live here until they go to freezer camp and the girls will stay here and make me great eggs. I have the advantage that I have not reached the maximum amount of chickens in my coop yet so I can still add more and I already have 6 boys that will be heading to freezer camp in another 10 weeks or so once they are 6 months. I keep telling people that the idea is to become self sufficient so that I don't have to depend on buying chicks for my meat chickens. A lot of my boys are very meatie looking. I am keeping one called Hercules so that he can hopefully make me some super babies with my hens hehe.

I can't wait to see what I get for girls though and how well they do with the girls and boys I already have.
